Sankara Nethralaya's LVC and VEC clinics have been exclusively serving patients with irreversible visual impairment with the expert team of low vision and rehabilitation professionals. Both the clincs help wide-ranging patients with low vision and total blindness by enhancing the use of their residual vision with best suited Low Vision devices (LVDs) and by empowering them through tailored rehabilitation intervention.

Serving more than 400 patients in a month, both the clinics are now joining hands with Motivation for Excellence for strengthening their technology resources and manpower to provide holistic low vision rehabilitation services to patients with visual impairment and multiple disabilities at the Chennai facility of Sankara Nethralaya.

As part of this collaborative project, the clinics have also committed to the fellowship program in Low Vision Rehabilitation to spread awareness and professional knowledge among eye care professionals from other parts of the country. Through this new initiative, more patients with visual impairment and multiple disabilities will get quality and affordable\free rehabilitation training, assistive technology training, free LVDs, early intervention services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, sensory integration, speech therapy, and remedial education under one roof. The fellowship program is aimed to train 6 qualified professionals in this unique and highly required field of service, thus expanding the availability of low vision rehabilitation services to the unreached population.
