MFE supports Prakriti's Panchayat Sakhi Programme. The programme is designed to empower women in rural India to participate in local governance at the Gram Panchayat Level. The program inducts Panchayat Sakhis who are trained by the Prakriti staff to work with women in the village, empower them to vote and ensure that their rights and privileges are guaranteed and implemented appropriately. Regular meetings are held with gram panchayat members to facilitate the participation of women and ensure funds and schemes allocated to them are implemented appropriately. The program has been introduced in 10 gram panchayats in the Nagpur District in Maharashtra and Balaghat District in Madhya Pradesh each.
